As Nigel Lythgoe mentioned on last night’s show, the United States Postal Service will pay tribute to four influential choreographers – Isadora Duncan, José Limón, Katherine Dunham, and Bob Fosse – with Innovative Choreographers stamps. The postage stamps will be available starting on National Dance Day, July 28, 2012.
This year, National Dance Day is Saturday, July 28, and the Dizzy Feet Foundation has partnered with The Music Center and Los Angeles County to present the west coast’s largest National Dance Day celebration. We’re thrilled to hold the event at Los Angeles County’s newest, most exciting outdoor destination, Grand Park, and everyone’s welcome to come out and move!
National Dance Day is July 30, 2011 and events will include local celebrations at participating Six Flags parks across the country (more locations will be published soon). Below are three National Dance Day choreography videos for different levels of expertise, making it possible for people of all ages and dance backgrounds to celebrate.
Mark your calendar—National Dance Day is back! The second annual National Dance Day will take place once again on the last Saturday of July (July 30, 2011). In the near future, three routines will be available right here on Fox.com/Dance so people of all levels can join in on the fun.
“It’s a wonderful way to stay healthy and have fun whilst doing it,” National Dance Day creator and SYTYCD Executive Producer/Judge Nigel Lythgoe said on Thursday’s Top 20 results show.
WHAT: NATIONAL DANCE DAY, a grassroots initiative that encourages the nation, young and old, to move! Individuals, families, organizations and communities from across the nation come together through their creative expression in dance. Any style of dance is welcome and imagination is recommended in order to get the most out of this celebratory day.

National Dance Day, a grassroots movement taking place on Saturday, July 31 that encourages the people of this nation to get up and move, is being recognized with an official act of Congress. Created by Nigel Lythgoe, executive producer and co-creator of the hit FOX series SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE and founder of the Dizzy Feet Foundation, the aim of National Dance Day is to promote health and self-esteem through the art form of dance.
