The ninth season of SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE came to a conclusion Tuesday night when Eliana Girard and Chehon Wespi-Tschopp were crowned the winners during the live two-hour season finale on FOX. Girard, 21, from West Palm Beach, FL, and Wespi-Tschopp, 23, from Zurich, Switzerland, received the most of America’s votes and danced off with the cash prize of $125,000 each. Fellow finalists Tiffany Maher and Cyrus Spencer were eliminated as host Cat Deeley revealed the voting results.
The morning after Melanie Moore was crowned America’s Favorite Dancer, the Contemporary dancer from Marietta, GA hopped on the phone for a press call where she talked about her new title, being a front-runner, her partnership with Marko Germar, and more.
The dancers have undergone a grueling schedule for the past several months. What does Melanie plan to do between now and tour rehearsals? “I have 10 days off and I was planning on being at my studio and taking classes. That’s one thing about me—I can never sit still for that long. My boyfriend Mitchell is moving back up to Athens to go to the University of Georgia. He’s been out here supporting me throughout the competition, so I’m going to help him move in and spend some time with him. I’m ready to step out of the spotlight for just a couple minutes at least.”
The eighth season of SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE came to an exciting conclusion tonight as Melanie Moore, 19, a Contemporary dancer from Marietta, GA, was named America’s Favorite Dancer and awarded a cash prize of $250,000. She will be featured on the cover of Dance Spirit magazine, and will be recognized as a Gatorade athlete on gatorade.com and in the new G Series FIT print campaign.
Fans are invited to cast their vote for their favorite G Series FIT ad in which Moore will appear. Voting is open now at http://www.fox.com/dance/gatorade/voting/, and will conclude on August 24. The ad with the most votes will be featured in the November issue of Dance Spirit magazine.
Tadd Gadduang, Marko Germar, Sasha Mallory and Melanie Moore were named this season’s SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE Top 4 finalists on Thursday night’s exciting results show. Eliminated tonight were Ricky Jaime, 19, a Contemporary dancer from Miami, FL, and Caitlynn Lawson, 18, a Contemporary dancer from Moses Lake, WA.
Russell Ferguson, 20, a Hip Hop/Krump dancer from Boston, MA, was named America’s Favorite Dancer and winner of Season 6 of So You Think You Can Dance. He wins a cash prize of $250,000 and a cover feature in the March issue of Dance Spirit Magazine. Read more about Russell.
Finalists Ashleigh Di Lello, Ryan Di Lello, Jakob Karr, Kathryn McCormick and Ellenore Scott were eliminated in the Season Finale. The two hour show also featured performances from the Top 20 dancers. There were guest performances from Mary J. Blige, Adam Lambert, Leona Lewis, Jennifer Lopez and The Groovaloos.

The night America has been waiting for is almost here! The So You Think You Can Dance two-night season finale airs Tuesday, December 15 (8:00 – 9:00 PM ET/PT) and Wednesday, December 16 (8:00 – 10:00 PM ET live/ PT tape-delayed) on FOX. To celebrate the night on which America’s Favorite Dancer is crowned, American Idol Season 8 runner-up Adam Lambert will take the stage to perform his latest track, “Whataya Want From Me,” off his debut album, For Your Entertainment. His album debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard charts with 198,469 albums sold in the first week.
The fifth season of the summer hit SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE came to a spectacular conclusion tonight as Jeanine Mason was named the champion on the two-hour season finale broadcast live from the renowned Kodak Theatre in Hollywood. Mason, 18, a Contemporary dancer from Pinecrest, FL received the most votes out of the record-breaking 21.6 million votes cast. Additionally, she danced off with the cash prize of $250,000, the title of America’s Favorite Dancer and a cover feature in the November issue of Dance Spirit Magazine.
