The show starts taping out in line by sunrise.  Everyone in line will be seen and we do not encourage anyone to arrive too early or sleep out in line.

2)  What do I need to bring with me?

Be sure to print out all the necessary registration forms off www.FOX.com/Dance and fill them out ahead of time.  Also bring snacks and water, your individual solo music on a CD, and dance shoes you’re comfortable in.

3)  Can I bring guests?

For your initial audition, guests will NOT be allowed inside the building.  If you make it to a callback day, then guests will be allowed to attend.  The amount of guests may be limited by venue capacity.

4)  Are callbacks more than one day and is it in a different location?

The remaining audition dates for SYTYCD Season 10 are as follows; Boston, MA, FEB 28. Memphis, TN, MARCH 14. Los Angeles, CA, MARCH 22.  See location details at http://dance.blogs.fox.com/2012/12/19/season-10-auditions/.  You must attend one of the above listed dates to be considered for a callback.  If you make it past Day 1 of auditions in your selected city, you will need to be prepared to stay for an additional 2-4 days for callbacks.  Auditions can last the entire day, so be prepared.  If you make it through to callbacks, information regarding your callback day and location will be provided then.

5)  What exactly does the audition process entail?

Come to the audition with an individual and unique solo that best shows off your dance abilities.  Every audition experience is different, but there are multiple rounds where you will either have to dance improvisation to music we choose, and/or perform to a track of your choice.

There will also be many on camera interviews, taped dancing stations, as well as form stations, music stations and producer interviews you will have to go through depending on how far you make it.

6)  What should I wear?

You should plan on wearing dance attire and come with a look that you think best represents yourself for an on camera audition.  NO LOGOS, NO SPORTS TEAMS OR ANY OTHER COPYRIGHTED BRAND.

7)  Will I have time to warm-up?

You will have plenty of warning before you dance and you will have time to stretch and warm-up.

8 )  How long will the audition days last?

The initial audition and callback will be two separate days and both auditions are an ALL DAY process.

9)  Will there be any breaks?

Aside from a lunch break, there are no breaks throughout the day.  Bring enough water and snacks for a whole day.  Only snacks that do not need refrigeration and can fit in your bag will be allowed in the venue.  No food or drinks are provided by the show.  There will be no in-and-out privileges from the venue until the designated lunch break.

10)  What if the weather is bad?

Be prepared to be outside in line for a few hours as cameras will be filming before you enter the venue.  Dress appropriately for the weather in that city.  If conditions become too extreme, we will take necessary action to get the line out of the elements quickly.

11)  How long should my solo be if I get to perform in front of the judges?

There is no time limit to your solo.  The judges will stop you when they think they have seen enough.

Auditions for Season 10 will kick off Friday, Jan. 18 in Austin, TX at The Joe R. and Teresa Lozano Long Center for the Performing Arts. The show will continue its search for America’s Favorite Dancers on Monday, Feb. 11 at Saint Andrew’s Hall in Detroit, MI; Thursday, Feb. 21 at the Boston Opera House in Boston, MA; Thursday, March 14 at the Orpheum Theatre in Memphis, TN; and Friday, March 22 at the Orpheum Theatre in Los Angeles, CA.

In Season Ten, producers will travel across the country in search of dancers who represent the best America has to offer. Those who shine during auditions will be given a ticket to Las Vegas for call-backs, where they work with top choreographers to learn and then be judged on multiple styles of dance. The best of the best will then move on to the live competition shows this summer.

Registration will begin at 8:00 AM at each venue. Auditioners traveling to cities for the open calls should make arrangements to stay for at least two days (* Boston & Memphis – three days) following their initial audition in the event of a callback. For *Los Angeles, dancers will need to be available on both Monday 3/25 and Tuesday 3/26 for a potential callback.

Dancers must be either a U.S. citizen, legal permanent resident of the U.S. or possess a current legal Employment Authorization Card enabling him/her to seek employment freely in the U.S. (i.e., without restrictions as to employer) by the date specified in the eligibility rules. Dancers must be no younger than 18 or older than 30 years of age on the first day they register for auditions. Any dancer who is a minor in his/her state of residence must also have a parent or legal guardian sign all required documents. Dancers must provide legal, valid proof of age when they register for auditions.

Happy 30th, tWitch!

Shortly after Season 9 of So You Think You Can Dance’s finale, all-stars Allison Holker and tWitch Boss, along with Allison’s daughter, Weslie, vacationed at Villa del Palmar Cancun. They celebrated tWitch’s 30th birthday at the resort.

The three spent time playing on the resort’s beachfront building sand castles, wading into the ocean, and swimming with dolphins in Isla Mujeres. Allison and Weslie also enjoyed a day of pampering with a mani/pedi at the resort’s The Village Spa. The resort’s chef, Konstantinos Katsoulis, presented tWitch with a specially prepared birthday cake which everyone enjoyed.

America's Favorite Dancers: Chehon & Eliana!

The ninth season of SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE came to a conclusion Tuesday night when Eliana Girard and Chehon Wespi-Tschopp were crowned the winners during the live two-hour season finale on FOX. Girard, 21, from West Palm Beach, FL, and Wespi-Tschopp, 23, from Zurich, Switzerland, received the most of America’s votes and danced off with the cash prize of $125,000 each. Fellow finalists Tiffany Maher and Cyrus Spencer were eliminated as host Cat Deeley revealed the voting results.

“What I have imagined winning would feel like was like winning the lottery,” said Eliana Girard. “I hoped for it every single day and when it actually happened I felt like my life was complete. Whatever happens afterwards doesn’t matter because all my dreams have come true! And I want to take the time to thank all the fans for their support, because they don’t realize how much they helped me get through this! And of course my family too! I love you guys and thank you a bazillion times over!”

“Winning SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE gives me the most unbelievable and rewarding feeling,” said Chehon Wespi-Tschopp. “It is a truly special ending to my journey, far beyond anything that I thought possible. It gives me a great sense of accomplishment that all the hard work that I’ve put in since starting ballet at 13 was completely worth it. I’d like to thank this show for giving me the opportunity of a lifetime, and to all my supporters who have made me believe in my talents, and most importantly, my parents, who have always been there for me and sacrificed so much for me to pursue my dream!”

In addition to naming America’s Favorite Dancers, the Season Nine finale of SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE featured performances by this season’s Top 20 dancers. The celebration also showcased the judges’ favorite routines from the season – including a special performance by Dragon House Crew, who were introduced, along with fellow member and runner-up Cyrus Spencer, in the Atlanta audition episode. The season finale also featured a special appearance by Carly Rae Jepsen who performed her new single, “This Kiss.”

Last week, Nigel announced the SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE Experience, a three-day dance convention filled with classes, seminars, a mock audition and performances during which participants can learn, watch and be inspired by their favorite SYTYCD dancers and choreographers. SYTYCD earns Creative Arts Emmy for Outstanding Lighting.

You may have noticed while watching Wednesday, September 5′s Top 6 performance show of So You Think You Can Dance that no voting numbers were given out. Voting did not happen because there will be no results next week. On Tuesday, September 11, your Top 4 dancers – Eliana Girard, Tiffany Maher, Cyrus Spencer, and Chehon Wespi-Tschopp – will dance for your votes one last time. Then, on September 18, America’s Favorite Dancers will be revealed in the Season 9 finale.

The morning after Witney Carson and Cole Horibe were eliminated from So You Think You Can Dance, they hopped on the phone with the press to chat about their Season 9 experience, the tour, and the future.

What was the biggest shock?

Witney – I had no idea what to expect. This experience was much harder than I thought it would be, mentally and physically.

Cole – Getting on to the show in general. I wasn’t expecting much when I tried out, so it was definitely a pleasant surprise.

What was your favorite piece from the season?

Cole – The Sonya Tayeh routine with Allison Holker was my favorite. Overall, it was such an amazing experience working with Sonya. She inspires you to give 200% into everything. She also instills confidence in you and trusts you as an artist to make your own interpretations, and Allison is also phenomenal.

Witney – The Whitney Houston dance with Stacey Tookey. She is the sweetest person ever and pushed me so hard. That was the most rewarding and trying experience for me.

What about the tour are you most looking forward to?

Cole – I’m excited to travel around the country and do what I love – dance!

Witney – I’m excited to see the fans and show them what we love to do.

What are your post-tour plans?

Witney – I just want to keep dancing.  I would love to get into acting and singing too. I am excited to see what the future holds.

Cole – I want to be in movies and on TV because acting has been my goal since I was a child.

These 4 dancers made it to the Season 9 finale!

Last night, after America’s vote was revealed, Eliana Girard, Tiffany Maher, Cyrus Spencer, and Chehon Wespi-Tschopp were named the Top Four finalists on So You Think You Can Dance. Witney Carson and Cole Horibe received the fewest votes and were sent home, without the judges – Nigel Lythgoe, Mary Murphy, and guest judge Christina Applegate (“Up All Night”) – saving any of the contestants.

Next week, on a new night, Tuesday, Sept. 11 at 8/7c, the competition continues when the Top Four finalists – Eliana Girard, Tiffany Maher, Cyrus Spencer and Chehon Wespi-Tschopp – will be paired with new All-Star partners. Because there was no voting after tonight’s show, no one will be eliminated next week. Rob Marshall (“Nine,” “Chicago”) will guest-judge and Jean Sok, a one-legged break-dancer, will perform.

The following week, don’t miss the season finale, when the Top Four finalists take the stage for the last time and America’s favorite male and female dancer are revealed on Tuesday, Sept. 18 at 8/7c on FOX.

Lindsay Arnold and Will Thomas were eliminated during Top 8 Week.

Wednesday night, after America’s vote was revealed, Cole Horibe, Will Thomas, Lindsay Arnold, and Witney Carson were the two guys and two girls who received the fewest votes. After deliberating, the judges – Nigel Lythgoe, Mary Murphy, and guest judge Jesse Tyler Ferguson (“Modern Family”) – saved Cole Horibe and Witney Carson from elimination and sent Will Thomas and Lindsay Arnold home.

Next week, on Wednesday, Sept. 5 at 8/7c, the competition continues when the Top Six finalists –Witney Carson, Eliana Girard, Cole Horibe, Tiffany Maher, Cyrus Spencer, and Chehon Wespi-Tschopp – will be paired with new All-Star partners. Additionally, there will be a special dance performance by AXIS Dance Company.

The following week, don’t miss the performance finale of the season, when the Top Four finalists take the stage to vie for America’s vote on a new night Tuesday, Sept. 11 at 8/7c. Then, America’s favorite male and female dancer will be crowned on the grand finale, Tuesday, Sept. 18 at 8/7c on FOX.
