Nick, Wadi, Missy and Iveta

Nick, Wadi, Missy and Iveta

After last week’s unprecedented save, finalists Wadi Jones, 24, a Breaking dancer from Ossining, NY; Iveta Lukosiute, 30, a Ballroom dancer from Klaipeda, Lithuania; Missy Morelli, 20, a Jazz dancer from Arvada, CO; and Nick Young, 19, a Tap dancer from Franklin, WI, were eliminated tonight on SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE.

(Read the full recap)

This week’s results show featured performances by Rage Crew and electro-hip-hop recording duo LMFAO with hip-hop dance crew Quest Crew. It was also announced tonight that the winner of SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE will appear in a Gatorade print ad in Dance Spirit magazine and will be featured as a G Series FIT Team Athlete online at www.gatorade.com/athletes, in addition to being crowned America’s Favorite Dancer, winning the $250,000 cash prize and being featured on the cover of Dance Spirit magazine.

The competition continues next week on America’s favorite dance show when the Top 16 finalists – Jordan Casanova, Alexander Fost, Tadd Gadduang, Marko Germar, Ricky Jaime, Mitchell Kelly, Chris Koehl, Caitlynn Lawson, Jess LeProtto, Miranda Maleski, Sasha Mallory, Melanie Moore, Clarice Ordaz, Ryan Ramirez, Ashley Rich and Robert Taylor Jr. – compete for America and the judges, including Emmy and Tony Award winner Kristin Chenoweth, who appears as the week’s guest judge, on a two-hour live performance show airing Wednesday, June 29 (8:00-10:00 PM ET live/PT tape-delayed) on FOX.

Tune in the following night, Thursday, June 30 (8:00-9:00 PM ET live/PT tape-delayed), for special performances by AXIS Dance Company, a critically acclaimed Northern California-based dance company that features performers both with and without disabilities, as well as to find out which two dancers will be sent home next.

I love the show, I love it.

The camera work makes it difficult for the home viewers to see the dancing. There are too many cameras, changing views, and shots from the rafters.

Every week I say I am going to write in, so there you have it.

Love the show but the camera work is not appropriate for this show.

    Thank you.

Nick And Iveta Wadi And Missy? Really America? if Anything Robert And Jess,Ryan and Miranda.Nick has the body of a superb dancer. the Lines that he could form even being a Tap dancer.I know that there would have been a Mia Michaels or Travis Wahl contemporary piece with Iveta and Nicks Name on it had they made it.The reason i say Jess should have been eliminated is that boy has not found his center yet. When you haven’t found that then how can you let go of it to show any type of emotion. HIs movements are too short I know this because most smaller dancers have this problem especially when their feet are so proportionate to their body type.I think that Jess could learn more looking at Kent Boyd footage. there are some styles that favor shorter movements such as Broadway but even then his movements seem punchy in places. He almost skips though a routine would love to see him saunter if it is at all possible.Robert i do love his personality but would love to see someone who is actually the best dancer win have been disappointed Three yrs in a row. Jakob Karr, Kent Boyd, and Mark Kenamura.Ryan Get the lead out of your Toucas!!! Dance for your LiFE!!! not just dance for 20 seconds and say “Look What I Can Do” (all right Stuart).

I for one am really pissed that 2 dancers weren’t sent home last week. Wadi and Nick were at the top of my favorite guy list this season and I am very disappointed the judges chose both of them to send home. Season 8 has just turned into the most disappointing season for me.

Quite honestly I felt that Ivetta was ten times better than Ryan and the judges even mentioned that Ryan hadn’t shown them her best that night! Then, why did they choose her? I think that it was rigged and I can only cringe because I know she has an in with the judges, and history with Mia.

As soon as know-it-all-racist Mia shows up there is no way Ryan won’t be carried to the top 10 or worse – 2. I can only pray that someone will be honest, and also that someone will purchase a muzzle for Mia this season, honestly I am so sick of her ignorant remarks…remind me again why she is judging?

I agree that the bottom three couples did have the worst performances during the performance night (or maybe jess should have been there too).
Wadi obviously doesn’t have the techniques in their chacha routine, and Iveta was off-tempo in their bollywood performance.
But I think losing Nick and Iveta was a wrong move.
(Now I’m really confused on how should a tap dancer dance for his life, if he/she is against a contemporary dancer.)

It is true the judges/production really favor Ryan. Take a look at all the group pieces and she is front and center of each of them. Not quite sure why she is so favored but I think the results show only proves the fact that the judges are going to keep her around as long as possible.

She was also the oldest of all the dancers, and I guess the summer crowd is looking to nominate prom queen. So here’s to Iveta!

Ricky got to stay because he preformed a true dance for his life. Ryan is not a performer. I can’t stand to watch her dance. Missy and Iveta are excellent performers with a lot of talent. I had my hopes up that Ryan would go home and now I’m not sure I even want to watch the rest of the season. What happened was wrong. She isn’t the strongest dancer and doesn’t have the highest star quality. Why are the judges keeping her? Ryan seems to have only one expression and she can’t convey a story properly with it.

I cannot believe that this show, which I’ve watched since day one, which allow this performance. These days children are growing up way too fast and these performing CHILDREN dressed in barely there bikini tops and shaking their asses does not set a good example to kids. I am sooo disappointed in the lack of taste used by the producers of the show.

I agree with Shannon about the inappropriate costumes. It’s starting to make me quite uncomfortable. I’m only 29 years old, and if I were ever brilliant enough as a dancer to be on this show, I’d have a seriously hard time showing so much of myself in those clothes. Remember, too, that younger people are watching this, and they’re internalizing the message of what it means to be attractive, and I don’t like the message they’re getting. I wonder if the dancers have trouble with these things, too… If it keeps this way, I might not be a viewer of the next season, which would make me quite sad.

I completely agree with everyone else on here. I was so relieved when Ryan was in the bottom three. She may be a good dancer, but she doesn’t know how to perform. Unfortunately, you can have all the talent in the world, but if you don’t know how to get it across to the viewers then a show like this is probably not for you. On top of that, her solo fell flat. I was so surprised they kept her over the other two which are extremely strong dancers. I was sad to see Nick go because I really liked him, but Ricky’s DFYL was absolutely amazing and he earned his spot to stay…Ryan, however, not even close.
P.S. in response to Shannon, I couldn’t agree more. I understand learning to dance young, and maybe even learning some of the more “trendier, sexier” moves….but honestly, there is a line. Why on earth was I watching little 8 eight year olds in extremely little bikini tops dancing? It was like a pedophile’s dream come true

A “dance for your life” should be just that. Anything from past performances should hold zero or little weight at that point. Ryan’s “dance for her life” SUCKED… showed me she doesn’t have the desire to give her all. Wadi at least can say he was proud of his and it was great! Iveta’s was PHENOMENAL! Missy’s was definitely better then Ryan’s, but mine would have been better then hers! Nigel even called Missy “the beast to beat!” (out of the beast of girls this season). And sweet talented tapper Nick? He was creative with his tap solo and has versatility! Plus, they had the opportunity to make the season finally add more tap numbers because Nigel indicated there were other contestants that could tap but nope! Sent him home too. It is very clear that Ricky DID dance for his life – gave everything he had – so he deserved to stay, but it was hard to see everyone go home when -(and I know its always one guy and one girl till we get down to 10) when it was ONLY RYAN that TRULY deserved to do so!!!

I like the show much better this year; but my entire family was shocked that Ryan was not eliminated. Iveta blew everyone away with her solo. So what if she is 30, is this show only about 18 year olds. The judges did not hold the girls accountable as they did the guys. If Ryan did not measure up in her solo in dancing for her life and the others did, why is she still there. Not fair. Iveta and Missy should be there, they earned it, they worked for it, no one had to tell them that they believe they can do better, they already proved that.

The judges put themselves in a corner by needing to eliminate 4 dancers out of three couples, particularly when couples are often in the bottom three because of a weak link. The clear fix would have been to have an additional bottom couple (or even two) form which the judges to choose from.
The judges were visably displeased to be sending Missy and Nick home. But I (for one) agree with their decision. Ryan derserves to be there and though her Solos are weak she is a stronger dancer than Missy. She will be missed along with charming Nick.

Iveta should have gone all the way to the finals. It’s a real shame she was cut, and I cannot imagine what the judges were thinking, picking Ryan to stay, out of those three girls. Ryan may be talented but there are half a dozen other dancers indistinguishable from her still in the show. Iveta was truly one of a kind.

Ryan personally had two weeks well in her range as well as Robert. In seasons past the first few epidsodes it was not real difficulut to pick the bottom 3 and every eyar the dancers get better. I think it will be interesteing to see some of the judges favorites go down in flames when they finally get really challenged to do things way out of their comfort zone. I also would like to see the guest judges give real input to help the dancers in the first few crucial weeks not just “yes your great your great.” You want guys like Wadi who was obviously growing in leaps and bounds to have a chance agains seasoned dancers.

I agree that the judges really need to come out and explain why they saved Ryan. It was a total shock, especially after Nigel admitted that she did not do her best in her dance for her life. Both Missy and Ivetta gave their all and were worlds beyond Ryan. Can Ryan dance, techinically yes, but she cannot perform. She just smiles the whole time, which is somehow even worse than Kent Boyd’s attempts at expression last season. Dancing at this level is way beyond the moves. It’s interpretation of music and a story through movement. That includes showing the emotional range of that story. Ryan doesn’t even attempt to do that. She is extremely immature as a dancer whereas Missy and especially Ivetta are both extremely well-rounded dancers that deserved their spot. Personally, I was hoping that Ivetta and Nick were the ones saved, but I certainly would have rather seen Missy saved instead of Ryan. I thought Ryan should have been in the bottom three since week one and have gone home already and yet she was the one the judges saved. Please have the guts to come out and explain your decision. America put Ryan in the bottom three for a reason and if you read these posts you will be aware that the majority of us wanted her eliminated. You owe us at least an explanation as to why you saved her. You defended your call on Ricky, but praising the other girls and calling Ryan out for not giving her all and then saving her does not explain the decision or defend it, which you really need to do.

On a side note, I think Jess’s perceived personality is jading a lot of people against him. He’s from New Jersey and sorry to say is more than a little bit stereotypical, but is actually an incredibly talented dancer. He has a low center, which is why some people may feel he lacks one because they are not use to seeing a dancer with one like that, but his center is very strong, one of the best in the boys this season. Go and rewatch Gene Kelly and you will see what a dancer like Jess is supposed to look like. Jess is technically very strong and has great performance. He just comes off arrogant, though I think that he probably really isn’t as much as he seems to be. He’s just from New Jersey and that’s kind of how they are there.

I was extremerly disappointed in the editing of the Gatorade-sponsored portion of last Thursday’s show. I assume the show was trying to promote healthy eating, but that is not what came across. The nutritionist on the show only pointed out “bad” foods – such as spaghetti with meatballs, ice cream and a pack of crackers – foods that are not in and of themselves “bad” because they do have some nutritional benefits. The only nutrional point made was the caloric content of the crackers, with no discussion of the other nutrional elements of the foods. Calories are generally correlated solely with weight-gain. This sends the message to viewers to “watch what you eat so you don’t get fat,” and that message was even further distorted because it appeared that the nutritionist was telling these dancers – dancers that get much more exercise every week than the average viewer – that even they can’t eat these calories. On a show that is watched by millions of teenage viewers, at a time when teens are being sent misguided messages constantly about what their bodies should look like, focusing only on “bad” foods and caloric intake, without any discussion of healthier options or the nutritional elements of both the “bad” and potential good foods, or without any discussion of the fact that these dancers train so hard every day they can probably eat as much as they want but should eat healthy, is not only reckless, it is down-right dangerous. I am disturbed that a show that seems so body-conscious and accepting of all body types would air such an irresponsibly-edited segment.

Concern #1 – I’ll not use the term “disappointed” because I neglected to vote and therefore do not feel completely entitled to such feelings. However, if the judges really selected who they wanted to save based on the “dance for your life” solo performances, then I agree with Ricky (although Nick and Wadi surely gave him a run for his money) and I disagree with Ryan. While she seems very interesting to watch, I do not believe that her solo performance was the strongest of the three. In my opinion Iveta had the best solo performance. Not that I favored her or anything. My opinion is based merely on the quality of the solo performances.

Concern #2 – Of the 16 remaining finalists,12 are contemporary/jazz dancers. That alone was another good reason to keep Iveta. We could use the variety! Besides, a person can only watch but so many pointed toe, peter pan leaps (usually from some type of randomly place furniture prop) into the tormented and seemingly unknowing arms of an awaiting male partner before the channel surfing begins!

I will just reiterate what basically all of the above posts are saying by agreeing that Nick and Iveta shouldn’t have gone home. I don’t think Missy and Wadi should have gone home either. I think the judges sent 2 of what were going to be the audience’s favorite boys home because Nick and Wadi were both totally adorable, and the kind of guys who girls at home fall in love with… let’s just say there aren’t many of those this season… there are no neils or marks or pashas. The guys this season are SO lackluster and forgetable. Nick and Wadi were two of the ones who were actually memorable. Ricky? I’m sorry but no. I completely disagree with Nigel and I guess everybody else who thinks he was so amazing when he danced for his life. I think Ricky just leaps around the stage and blindly smiles through out everything. Go back and watch it if you don’t believe me! Nicks solo was a million times better. I agree with whoever on here that said it was disheartening to see a tapper and a contemporary dancer dance for their lives and the contemporary dancer won. Nick’s dancing was amazing, and I really had pegged him as the person this season who was going to surprise everybody, definitely my dark horse to win. And Iveta just goes without saying. She was fabulous. She was a world champion. Her solo was on a different level… on a different planet than both Ryan’s or Missy’s. I read in an interview that Nigel said originally they were going to keep Iveta and Nick, but after Ricky’s solo they changed their minds…1. i don’t get that that because i just really don’t think ricky’s solo was good. 2. if you are going to change your whole decision based on someone’s dancing for their life, then why, on the other hand would you pick the girl who failed so miserably at just that? great job judges on completely contradicting yourselves and making probably one of the worst decisions in this show’s history. guess we will have yet another contemporary dancer as our champion. way to give the other dancers at least a shot. whatever. i’m obviously not alone in my disappointment. the competition is now melanie’s or jordan’s for the taking. and tadd is the only guy who even stands a chance now that wadi and nick are gone.

The spiral cam makes me dizzy & I have to actually stop watching. For the couples dances, bad camera work means it doesn’t look as good at home & it means less calls in for those couples. I am still mourning the lost of my favourite couple Iveta and Nick and I’ll even include Wadi and Missy, why did they had to go. Nick and Iveta were amazing, awesome chemistry and I know they would have shine in other dances. I truly hope that SYTYCD brings back Iveta and Nick and will get a chance to show off their amazing skills again. If Iveta has to dance with another partner than bring her with another star from past season (Pasha or Dimitry) and let her show America what true ballroom is all about, she’ll BRING IT to the FLOOR. I’m all for Tango, Argentine Tango, Rumba or a hot Paso Doble.

If this hostess continues to host next season I will absolutely not watch. The dancing is great the judges are great we LOVE the show but everytime this hostess talks and comments and take the thunderaway from the dancers and the judges and simply taller than EVERYONE on the show. It seems like there are so many more people that would be much more positive and personable and have such a BETTER stage presence that this hostess. Everytime she talks or comments we both roll our eyes and wait for the next dance to commence. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE entertain the idea of another hostess!! please. B and C

Seriously?! why is Ryan still here this week. I’m not as sad to see Miranda and Robert go (they weren’t my favorites although talented) as I was Missy, Iveta, Nick, and Wadi (all amazing dancers), but they still blew Ryan out of the park this week. Ryan can do the steps, yes. But she doesn’t emote there’s nothing behind her dancing compelling me to want to watch her. Not to mention did nobody ever teach that girl not to smile during a sad dance or really any dance other than like a broadway number. She needs to have real emotion not a plastered on smile like she’s in her 8th grade talent show. When will America and the judges see the light and send her home so we can watch Ricky dance with a real performer? I was blown away that she wasn’t in the bottom 3 again this week she definitely deserved to be and I feel like now that she’s paired with ricky he might be able to get enough votes to keep her afloat in this competition which is really disappointing to me and will make for a very boring summer of SYTYCD. I completely agree with everyone who thinks its sad that in the first elimination we lost our only tap dancer and ballroom dancer…the variety had me really excited for this season and now I’m not so sure.

Can’t agree more with all of the comments. How can we take the judges comments seriously when they would pick a low performing dancer over a ten-time world champion? As viewers we were really deprived of a unique opportunity to see world class dancing. I have wondered in the past why the judges gushed over certain dancers whom I didn’t really see as the best dancers. I thought it was my lack of dance knowledge, now I know that the judges are influenced by other things than dance. It really ruins the reputation of this show.

Miranda was ripped off! She is so powerful and expressive and her dance for her life was way better than Ashley’s and even Caitlyn’s. NOT a good choice.

I think booting Miranda was a huge mistake. She not only is an amazing dancer, she has real charisma. I’m sorry, but Ashley can barely convince me that she has a pulse …..

Please stop changing the format, bring back the choreographers as judges, where’s Mia and Adam? and be sure to give them props for the amazing work they do as well as the dancers. Best group of dancers ever this season and so glad you brought Mary back!

Nick….you blew me away!!! I was shocked to find that you and Iveta were even IN the bottom 3, let alone SENT HOME!!!
I think Iveta rubbed voters the wrong way (perhaps because they felt she didn’t deserve to be there because of her championship status), but if viewers just judged her on her dancing, she was WAY better than some other dancers. The luck of the draw of getting “Bollywood” that week also was a jinx…
I’m glad that there are other viewers that agree that we need more than lyrical/contemporary dances.

The name of the show should be changed to:

So You Think You Can Dance LYRICAL & COMTEMPORARY…..seriously, because that’s ALL IT IS….I want to see some ballet, tap, more broadway….geez….ENOUGH with just lyrical & contemporary. I agree with another comment that said he was concerned that if viewers that were surfing through the channels stumbled across SYTYCD, they wouldn’t stop to bother watching because it’s SO “girly and frilly” with all the peter pan leaps turns….There are many people that may enjoy dancing if the only impression they got of dance wasn’t all ONE SIDED….the world needs more male dancers, and I agree they should be trained in ballet & lyrical, but if they see different styles, the person would be more likely to be inspired to give dancing a try….

P.S. Love having Mary Murphy back!!!!!!! I would much rather hear her screaming in emotion and praise for the dancers than I would for Mia’s biased, selfish, and hurtful comments.

I do not like the way this is starting out. “Saving Ryan” is gonna get old fast. The decision to eliminate Iveta and save Ryan is SO!! transparent that it is favoritism. As soon as I saw the clip that Ryan worked with Mia I said to myself “AW.. now I get it!!”. The show was honored to have someone of Iveta reputation to even want to be on the show and showed disrespect to eliminate her first chance they got. If the judges keep saving Ryan I will quit watching. American is trying to vote her off for how many weeks now??? Come on!!!
